Snowflakes aloft
Take heart to the land of vision
Where unfolding gently are
My dreams and a new year.
In the season of Winter, the Soul digs deep into the soil to connect with the creative seeds of dream, hope, and desire.
This is not about determining the exact steps of a path, instead this is about allowing the path to move toward you with gift, presence, and awakening.
Allow the essence of you to step forward, to be heard, to be attended to, to guide.
Within the transformative energy of Winter is time to DREAM.
How do I Dream My Best Self?
To Dream: Allowing the depths of heart and soul to arise and guide.
The transformative energy of Winter is an active process within the body, mind, heart, and soul.
Within dream, you don't hold back.
Instead the motion of Winter is one of attention and awareness to the roots within as they prepare to give rise to the vision of heart and soul.
The quiet of Winter keeps dreams warm as they incubate and create the framework for Spring bloom.
Winter is a time to turn to center and connect with the depths within.
For it is the layers beneath the snow where the Best Self rests, gathering the creative seeds of new desire and new vision.
In Winter, your Best Self comes forward when you allow yourself to acknowledge possibility, to take a chance – simply: to dream.
The Transformative Energy of Winter
Begin Winter with this question:
What does my heart dream of for me?
Winter holds the warmth of roots to be passed back as the growth of Spring requires nutrition.
The new growth makes a choice about presence and progression, making decisions about shape and expression within the warmth of Summer.
And as the sun completes her journey, the soul reaches to embrace new growth yielding clear intention for next steps, new journey.
In Winter there is a coming in to go out, to begin.
Winter is both end and beginning.
Winter is preparation for blooming.
On a galactic level, Winter is about re-cycle, re-new, re-wind.
To see this as the first motion brings your awareness into alignment with the concept of the Eternal Return.
All energy flows from potential with intention towards form and always returns when the intention of the form is fulfilled and acknowledged.
The Eternal Return is the energy of the infinite and the eternal held with divine awareness of All That Is.
Winter, especially in its clear acknowledgement, provides the path to step into the soul’s motion within the Eternal Return.
Soul awareness is intensified with this clarity from seasonal energy, allowing for the steps of your path to be stronger within soul alignment.
The Gift of Winter
The importance of rest in Winter is easy to underestimate.
Winter is the flow inward as the days have moved towards darkness.
Yet, Winter begins as this eternal cycle begins its journey towards light.
Each day with a touch more light than the day before.
The rest gives space to dream, to take stock of where you have been and where you might go.
The rest brings the quiet needed to look within and see the motions and feel the possibilities.
The rest encourages clarity in awareness and in choice.
Winter stills thoughtless reaction and stokes the fire of thoughtful response.
There is no hurry or pressure.
Instead, there is time to observe, to pay attention.
As Winter progresses, the inward flow begins the motion out toward the claim of Spring and the outward unleashing of Summer.
The entire year is fueled by Winter dreams.
Your Best Self expands and redefines the path, the journey, the dream of life.
In Winter, allowing the depths to arise guides your Best Self to the dreams of all of you, body, mind, heart, and soul.
When does Winter Begin?
Each year, Winter begins on the day of the least amount of daylight.
Known as the Solstice, Winter occurs sometime between December 20th and 23rd in the Northern Hemisphere and in June between the 20th and 23rd in the Southern Hemisphere.
Like the equinox, this moment is initiated by the sun’s motion over the equator and affected by the tilt of the earth’s axis.
It is the life of the crystal, the architect of the flake, the fire of the frost, the soul of the sunbeam. This crisp Winter air is full of it.
John Burroughs
Winter is the time for comfort, for good food and warmth, for the touch of a friendly hand and for a talk beside the fire: it is time for home.
Edith Sitwell
Entering Winter: Questions for Alignment
To align with the energy of Winter, here are several questions to ask yourself (or in your Akashic Records).
Ask them at the beginning of Winter to help focus and begin to move into the possible streams of transformation.
Also, about midway through, contemplate this question set again to track your motion, observe inner shift, and understand how self-awareness transforms with the season and the flow of your life.
What does my heart dream for me?
What stands in my way to being open to the energy of Winter?
Within me, what yearns to make itself present in my awareness?
How do I trust myself to listen to my inner guidance?
What has my body learned which will help me rest and restore?
How does my soul contribute to my renewal in Winter?
What excites me about the energy of Winter?
What dreams for myself can I bring forward in this season?
What will move me toward Spring with grace and ease?
Within the balance of my body, mind, heart, and soul, what are the empowered dreams of my Best Self?
